Competition Competitions are one of the greatest tools we can offer our students in achieving their dancing goals. Not only are they an exciting personal challenge, but they are also a whole lot of fun! Competitions provide a glimpse of the greater community of Fred Astaire, an opportunity to meet and observe students from other studios, and the opportunity to see just how far your own dancing can go. Our competitions occur both regionally and nationally in various places throughout the United States. Students of all levels can compete against other students of the same level, even as a beginner.
Showcase Ball A Showcase Ball is a formal evening of performances hosted by our studio. The Showcase Ball is comprised of students’ ballroom dance showcases, some of which are performed at competitions. Any student may choose to work with a dance teacher on a particular dance showcase. What exactly is a showcase? It is a uniquely choreographed solo routine performed by the student and the instructor. Showcases are a great way to develop and demonstrate your unique self-expression in your dancing, as the music used is your choice, and should be something that really moves you.
